Your Dedication
Dolores
I remember my brothers, myself and dad went to the consultant with mum for a memory test. Even though we knew she had dementia for a while, our dad was in complete denial, so the appointment was more for him. Mum positioned herself in the chair, sitting tall (she was only 5ft, but loved every inch of that 5ft), all smiles as if nothing was wrong. The doctor proceeded to ask her questions and asked the question of ‘Who is the president?’ and my mum turned to look at us and then back to the doctor knowing she did not know the answer and, quite proudly, said to the doctor: ‘Well, why are you asking me that? You are the doctor; you should know the answer to that! I’m not telling you.’ She never lost her sense of humour. It warms our hearts when we think of this and so many other wonderful memories. How blessed we were to call her our ‘mum’. She is missed every minute of every day, but we know she is up to mischief and making people smile, wherever she is.
